Visa extension advice for my dad
Hi Rabea Kruegel . My dad and moms immigration interview got cleared. But, my dad had to undergo SPUTUM tests and he had his interview later than my mother which was just two days ago and he was granted the visa. Now I am in a situation where my mom's visa expiration says April 21 and my dad's expiration says March 18. I am thinking since he had to undergo a SPUTUM test, they put his visa as Class B and due to that his visa expiration is only 2 months. I want to extend my dad's visa by a month since he has to settle some financial issues like selling his property etc. He won't be able to travel back since he's aging and not able to sit for long hours during travel. I would like to know what steps to be taken or is this extension worth the effort to put in. I would highly appreciate your input on this.

He can always come to America to activate his green card/permanent resident status and then fly back to Pakistan. I'd personally recommend doing it before January 20 as the incoming administration could do unpredictable things to people's visas (even if already issued). I recognize it doesn't help with your dad's health and difficulty with doing long flights, but at least if he comes to America to activate his green card status, he can return to Pakistan for a few months if needed. You have to spend at least 6 months of the year in America once you've activated your green card status.

That’s not possible you can’t extend a visa. If he doesn’t travel before it expires he’ll have to re-apply
